When L&I Visits, Our Team Springs into Action

You know how it feels when you see flashing police lights in your rearview mirror? Well, that's exactly the vibe in our office when someone announces, "L&I is here!" Cue the frantic scramble, the hushed whispers, and the sudden urge to look incredibly busy.

The Great Text Fest

First things first—our phones light up like a Christmas tree. Texting managers becomes a priority. You'd think we're all texting about a surprise Beyoncé concert. "L&I is here. What should we do?" "Any tips on how not to look suspicious while doing normal work?" "Do we need hard hats for this?"

And of course, my phone blows up. It's like I'm the hotline for crisis management. "Hey, boss, L&I is here. What now?" My reply is always the same, "Relax. Breathe. And for heaven's sake, don't try to hide under your desk."

Call of Duty

Then there are the calls. Oh, the calls. It's as if everyone suddenly remembers how to use the phone like it's 1999. "Hi, just wanted to confirm if we're up to code with that thingamajig in the warehouse." "Is the safety manual in an easy-to-find place?" “Should we offer them coffee, or is that bribery?”

Am I the only one who finds all this hilarious? It’s like watching a live-action sitcom where everyone transforms from calm, composed professionals into characters from an episode of The Office.

The Manager’s Perspective

From my end, it's a mix of chuckling and head-shaking. There's something endearing about watching the team spring into action like they're on a covert mission. I can't help but smile at their dedication, even though I know half of it is fueled by mild panic.

The Calm After the Storm

Once the L&I representatives leave, it's like a collective sigh of relief washes over the office. Phones go silent, people slowly emerge from their makeshift hiding spots, and normalcy returns. We laugh about it later, sharing war stories of how "prepared" we were.

And You Know What?

If you're still stressing about that visit, remember this—L&I isn't here to catch us out; they're here to ensure we're safe and compliant. And hey, if we can get through one of their visits without anyone actually hiding under a desk, I'd say we're winning.

Now, Back to Work

Alright, team, let's get back to doing what we do best—creating amazing work without the adrenaline rush of an L&I visit. Just don’t forget to make sure that a safety manual is always within arm's reach.
